Stocks in the United States struggled to advance on Friday, despite a federal jobs report that was better than expected.
The Dow Jones Index rose 81 points to close at 13,155 and the Nasdaq Composite fell 11 points to 2,978.
The FTSE 100 in London rose 13 points to close at 5,914, the DAX in Frankfurt was down 0.22% and the CAC-40 in Paris was up 0.11%.
The Australian 200 Index was up 43 points, to close at 4552 and he NZX50 was up 18 points to close at 40 41
At 8.30am on Monday, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 83.25 US cents, 79.35 Australian cents, 51.88 pence, 68.61 yen and 0.6437 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 74.50.
Brent crude oil was trading at $108.11 per barrel and gold was trading at $1704.04 per ounce.
