A new survey indicates that almost half of New Zealanders believe household income will drop during 2013.

The Horizon Research survey of about 2500 people over the age of 17 found that 45.8% think income will fall or fall sharply, compared with 10.3% believing it will grow or grow strongly.

But 32.4% think their household income will neither grow nor fall.

The survey found almost 28.9% of respondents thought the economy would grow or grow strongly; while 34.2% thought it would decline or decline strongly.

It found 26.3% thought it would do neither, while 10.6% were unsure.

The survey was carried out in November and December and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2%.
