Electronic spending up in December

Eftpos spending in December was up 0.5% on November, the third consecutive monthly spending increase.
Paymark, which processes 75% of eftpos transactions in New Zealand, said the week leading up to Christmas and a bumper Boxing Day, when sales were up 13.4%, were a decent bonus for retailers.
Spending via the Paymark network was up 3.3% in 2012, totalling $46 billion.
