Auckland house prices continue to track upwards, even in December.
The average price of houses in Auckland increased by more than $41,000 or 7.7% for 2012. It was the highest percentage increase in five years.
Peter Thompson of Barfoot & Thompson said the number of sales this December was the highest in eight years.
Mr Thompson says the average price in December was $624,000, just $4000 short of the record average price which was achieved in November.
He said it sets a new benchmark because the average price for the past three months now has been over $600,000.
