Credit card spending increased by 1% in December

New Zealanders spent more than $3.1 billion on their credit cards in December, an increase of 1% compared to November.

Reserve Bank figures show spending increased 4.6% for the year ending December.

More than $5.7 billion in outstanding advances were owed last month, which is down a third of a percent compared to November, and two thirds of a percent compared to a year ago.
