Jade Software has won a contract to supply its port management software in the United States.

The company, which recently spun off Wynyard, its intelligence gathering arm, said Diversified Port Holdings will introduce Jade's Master Terminal at five shipping terminals in the south-east.

Managing director David Lindsay said Jade is focusing on expanding its presence in the US after establishing itself in the Middle East.

"Not only is it a major win in terms of providing a benchmark into that market, but it's really important that we can follow that up with putting the right sort of people on the ground to support the customer base and new potential customers as well."

Mr Lindsay would not say how much the contract is worth, but said it's a multi-million dollar contract over a period of five years.

He said they are mixed cargo ports which are not only processing containerised goods but general cargo as well.

Mr Lindsay said Jade's system has been designed to cater for general cargo, where as most of the other systems on the market have been designed for containerised goods only.

He said the overall market is growing by about 5%, but the ports in the mixed cargo space are growing in excess of 20%.
