MWH, an engineering and construction company, has offered to employ about half of Mainzeal's workforce in Christchurch.

Mainzeal, the country's third largest building firm, went into receivership on 6 February.

MWH has offered full-time permanent contracts to 86 staff.

Mainzeal employed about 200 people in the Canterbury region.

Recovery programme manager Chris Pile said the rest of the workforce should have no problem finding work on rebuilding projects in Christchurch.
