Powershop says customers should expect increases in power prices because of changes across the electricity supply chain.
It said the cost of retailing has increased across the board and customers can expect rises of between 1% - 5% from April.
Powershop said the cost of distributing power has gone down in some areas, but these were more than offset by increases in the cost of energy generation, metering and transmission, as well as higher retail costs.
It said changes in bills will come down to where people live and factors such as how much power they use and when they use it.
