Fairfax sends more jobs offshore

5:28 pm on 12 March 2013

Fairfax says it doesn't know how many jobs could go as part of a proposal to outsource its call centre staff in Australia and New Zealand

The struggling company has already consolidated a number of sub-editing jobs on both sides of the Tasman.

The proposal would see jobs contracted out to the United States based firm, TeleTech, which has call centres in Auckland and Manila in the Philippines.

Fairfax Media New Zealand chief executive Allen Williams says he isn't able to say how many will be affected at this stage.

Mr Williams says staff will find out in the next three months whether they will lose their jobs.
