Fonterra has appointed Simon Israel to the board following the retirement of Ralph Waters.
Mr Israel is chairman of Singapore Telecommunications and a director of real estate firm CapitaLand.
Fonterra says Mr Israel, who is Singaporean, has exceptional governance, consumer and wider Asian business experience.
He was an executive director at Temasek Holdings for six years and executive director and president in 2010 and 2011.
