Shoppers increased their spending on plastic in May.
Statistics New Zealand said the value of electronic card spending rose 0.5% in May, adjusted for seasonal variations.
The agency said spending rose most on fuel and consumables, including food and liquor, a turn-around from April when spending on both categories fell.
