Food prices increased 0.3% in May, driven largely by rises in grocery food, along with increases in the price of restaurant meals and ready-to-eat-food.
Fruit and vegetable prices fell by 2.6%, the only sector to record a drop.
Food prices have risen 6.8% in the year to May, the smallest annual increase since last May.
