A national private heath care company is poised to sign a $100 million deal with a local authority in China to train professionals in post-operative care in the home.

The contract is between the local government of Tianjin and Healthcare New Zealand, for three training programmes to be held over three years.

Healthcare NZ chairman Doug Catley says the contract will be signed by the end of the month.

He says the venture will initially create 30 jobs at the company's head office in Wellington.

Expansion into other Chinese cities could add a further two hundred new jobs.
