Mory Ducros, the second-biggest courier firm in France, has filed for bankruptcy.

The company was formed a year ago, following the merger of transport companies Mory and Ducros. It has 5000 employees.

The group lost 79.5 million euros in the 16 months to December 2012, according to court papers cited by Le Monde newspaper.

The BBC reports it is the largest bankruptcy case in France since Moulinex, a household goods company, failed in 2001.
