New Zealand sharemarket down

The New Zealand sharemarket fell during trading on Friday morning, with the NZX 50 down 21 points to 3265 just after midday, on turnover of $65 million.

Telecom was down 1c to $3.46, Fletcher Building fell 16c to $6.75 and Contact Energy was down 7c to $8.40.

New Zealand Oil and Gas rose 3 c to $1.54

Mainfreight was down 6c to $6.60, and The Warehouse fell 4c to $3.93.

In the currency markets at 12.25pm, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 74.18 US cents, 77.59 Australian, 37.35 pence, 79.53 yen, and 0.4728 euro. The TWI stood at 66.22.
