Wholesale trade sales tumble

3:12 pm on 8 June 2015

Wholesale trade sales have fallen.

Official figures show seasonally adjusted total sales declined 0.8 percent in the three months to March, compared with the previous quarter.

Statistics New Zealand said all industries, bar grocery wholesaling, had falls in sales.

On an annual basis, the value of wholesale trade sales rose 1.8 percent, the lowest annual increase since the June 2013 year.

The department said the trend for total sales had generally been rising since the September 2009 quarter, but it appeared to be easing.
