Auckland property prices surge - TradeMe

Trade Me Property says the asking price for properties in Auckland has continued to surge, with the lowest asking price now over half a million dollars.

The average asking price for a home in Auckland has increased by $6,850 to $747,450 in May compared with April.

Meanwhile, the national average asking price fell almost 1 percent to $535,250.

Air NZ recognised

Air New Zealand has been recognised at the World Airline Awards.

The country's national carrier, won World's Best Premium Economy Class, Best Premium Economy Class airline seat and Best Premium Economy onboard catering.

Number of advertised skilled job vacancies increases

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment says the number of skilled job vacancies advertised online has increased by 4 percent in the year ended in May, despite a 0.7 percent fall last month.

It says the number of skilled vacancies has been strong over the year, but has weakened since December.

IT industry jobs rose 1.3 percent, while jobs in the construction and engineering industry group fell 2.2 percent.
