Statistics New Zealand figures show food prices rose 0.5 percent in June following a similar rise in May.

Seasonally higher prices for fresh fruit and vegetables led to the increase last month.

But that was offset by lower meat, poultry and fish prices.

In the year to June, food prices dropped 0.1 percent.
