The Labour Party has formally set out its conditions to support a Pacific-wide trade deal.

The political opposition says it support free trade, but it won't back the Trans Pacific Partnership if it undermines the country's sovereignty.
The party outlined five non-negotiable bottom lines:
- Pharmac must be protected.
- Corporations cannot successfully sue the Government for regulating in the public interest,
- New Zealand maintains the right to restrict farm land sales and houses to foreigners
- The Treaty of Waitangi must be upheld,
- Meaningful tariff reductions and market access for agricultural goods.
The 12 Trade Ministers are gathering in Maui, Hawaii, this weekend to advance the controversial and secret TPP talks.
