Orion eyes pharmacy expansion in US

3:45 pm on 2 October 2015

Orion Health has signed a deal that will see its technology rolled out to all 2400 Boots chemist shops in Britain and Ireland, and it is now setting its sights on the US.

The health software company's chief executive, Ian McCrae, said Boots was the first pharmacy chain to use Orion's software, which has so far been used only in hospitals.

He said Boots is owned by US-based pharmacy and retail chain Walgreens Boots Alliance, and that opened up a market of thousands of stores in North America.

"Walgreens in the US has another 8000 pharmacies across the US as well, so it's a really big organisation."
