Commerce Commission chair to step down

8:58 pm on 16 March 2009

The chairwoman of the Commerce Commission, Paula Rebstock, will stand down from the role later this month, at the end of her term.

She has been at the commission for 11 years, and chairwoman for five and a half.

The Prime Minister, John Key, says the Government accepts with regret her decision to leave and thanks her for her focus and dedicated service.

The Government will be recommending that Mark Berry be appointed to replace Ms Rebstock. Dr Berry is a barrister, specialising in competition law, and was deputy chairman of the commission from 1999 to 2001.
