Survey reveals chief executives' pay rises

Almost half of the country's chief executives received pay rises last year, a survey suggests.

Of the 455 company heads questioned, 48% had received a salary increase. Of those who received an increase, the median raise was 5%.

The survey was carried out by Moyle Consulting, a company specialising in executive remuneration.

Director Jarrod Moyle says the median base salary was $200,000 and bonus payments for chief executives dropped.

Mr Moyle says the results should be seen in context, as another survey showed about 61% of companies provided salary increases for general staff.
