Govt would retain control of state assets - Cameron

The head of a group advising the Government on ways of developing the sharemarket says the partial sale of state-owned companies would not mean the Government would lose control of the assets.

Capital Market Development Taskforce chair Rob Cameron told Morning Report that having state-owned companies partially listed is commonplace on international stock exchanges and gives retail investors more options.

Mr Cameron said the listing of Air New Zealand is an example of how such a partial listing can work.

Prime Minister John Key will respond to the taskforce's 60 recommendations in February.
