New car registrations continue to fall and are now at their lowest level in four years.

The New Zealand Transport Agency says the number fell 27% to 4898 in November, compared to the same month a year earlier.

Used car registrations - generally imported used cars - were down 39% to 5923 last month.

Motor Industry Association chief executive Perry Kerr says he expects sales for the calendar year to be at 2004 levels.
