Boeing will reduce its workforce by some 10,000 this year.

Chief executive Jim McNerney said on Wednesday the global economy continues to weaken - affecting air traffic and financing.

He said the cuts would be made through attrition, retirement and layoffs. The figure includes 4500 jobs already announced in the commercial aircraft division.
