Financial turmoil may delay retirement for some

Baby boomers who expected to retire in their mid-50s are now planning to hold on to their jobs as the recession grips the country.

Business networking group Boomerz NZ says many of its members are taking a cautious approach to their future.

Director Allan Morris is among the country's one million baby boomers, born between 1946 and the early 1960s.

Mr Morris says many baby boomers' nest eggs have been rocked by the financial crisis, and they are also concerned about the security of their jobs.

He said delaying retirement can be a positive move in any case.
