Food prices rose 0.2% in February, despite lower prices for fruit and vegetables.
Statistics New Zealand says the only food group to record a price decrease was fruit and vegetables, which were down 2.6% driven by lower prices for apples.
The cost of soft drinks led the overall increase, after their prices rose 2.7% in the month.
For the year to February, food prices rose by 8.8%.
