New Zealand market finishes day higher

The New Zealand share market closed up on Friday, with the NZX 50 index 31 points higher to 2523, a rise of 1.3%.

The dollar was trading at 51.99 US cents, 79.50 Australian cents, 37.36 pence, 50.75 yen and 0.4023 euro.

Telecom closed down one cent to $2.34, Contact Energy gained 7c to $5.67 and Fletcher Building rose 14c to $5.45.

The Warehouse rose 5c to $3.50 and Rakon lifted 18c to $1.15.

The Trade Weighted Index was 53.16.

Across the Tasman, the Australian share market closed more than 3% cent stronger after Wall Street extended its rally for the third consecutive session.

The S&P/ASX200 index was up 109.7 points, or 3.39%, to 3345.2, while the All Ordinaries index added 104.3 points, or 3.27%, to 3294.7.

On the Sydney Futures Exchange, the March share price index futures contract was 91 points higher to 3338 on 48,314 contracts.
