Air New Zealand is to match the Government's extra $2.5 million funding to promote New Zealand in Australia.

The State-owned airline says its additional investment should help also its trans-Tasman business and bolster tourism by bringing more Australians to New Zealand.

The company plans to spend $500,000 on marketing alongside Tourism New Zealand.

The remaining $2 million will be in the form of free domestic fares for Australians who fly to New Zealand with the airline, thus helping to ensure its trans-Tasman flights are fuller.
