Sharemarket up 13 points

The New Zealand sharemarket finished trading on Wednesday in positive territory, with the NZX 50 index up 13 points to 2699 on turnover of $126 million.

Telecom closed up 10 cents to $2.72, Contact Energy was up 23c to $5.78 and Fletcher Building was unchanged at $6.38.

ANZ Bank Group closed down $1.65, or 7.7%, to $19.75, while The Warehouse gained 20c to $3.50.

The dollar was trading at 56.53 US cents, 79.49 Australian cents, 38.46 pence, 54.66 yen and 0.4289 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was 56.2.

The Australian sharemarket was lower at noon as the financial sector was affected by ANZ's disappointing first-half profit result.

The S&P/ASX200 index was down 18.6 points to 3689.8, while the All Ordinaries lost 16.2 points to 3655.5.
