Singapore group promotes business connection

Singapore wants to hear from New Zealand firms keen to break into the Chinese market.

The Singapore Business Federation, which represents the interests of more than 15,000 firms, is keen to match New Zealand firms with Singapore businesses that can offer links to the Chinese market.

Christopher Harris at North Pacific Securities, who is working on behalf of the Federation, says the federation is particularly keen on biotechnology firms with commercial products.

He says New Zealand firms wanting to work in Asia must have an executive who understands the region and must have a bank involved to counter the financial risk.

Mr Harris says one Dunedin-based firm, which he won't name, is already talking with a Singapore firm about working together.
