Commerce Commission to prosecute tapware manufacturer

9:00 pm on 6 July 2009

The Commerce Commission is taking tapware manufacturer Methven to court, alleging it broke the Fair Trading Act by misleading customers in its advertising.

The commission says the decision to prosecute relates to claims made by Methven about its Satinjet twin jet shower head which it said offers significant hot water savings, but does not.

The complaint is understood to have come from a competitor.

Methven chief executive Gary Nel says Satinjet can deliver the stated savings, and says the company is confident it has done no wrong.
