The Companies Office has laid criminal charges against the directors of failed finance firm, Clegg & Company.

The company collapsed in October 2007, owing $15 million to 500 investors.

Brian Samuel Clegg and Pamela Nicolson-Clegg face charges related to false statements in the company's prospectus and misleading the Trustee over the level of related-party lending.

Mr Clegg also faces a charge relating to misleading the Securities Commission.

Receivers say investors are still owed about $8 million, though further payouts are unlikely to exceed 10 cents in the dollar.
