The receiver of the Lane Walker Rudkin group of companies says a further 42 staff are to be made redundant from the Christchurch operations.

It says these people will be paid their full entitlements when they leave.

The receiver says staff made redundant earlier have now received holiday pay and redundancy accrued up to the time when the companies were placed in receivership.

According to the National Distribution Union, redundancies at Lane Walker since it went into receivership in mid-May now total 228, with only 87 workers left at the Christchurch site.

The company says the remaining divisions continue to operate.

It says the Southern Alps Socks operation in Timaru has been sold to Sock Works, and the 35 staff there will be re-employed by the new owner.
