The Commerce Commission has given permission for the Japanese owned company Frucor Beverages to buy Simply Squeezed Holdings.

Simply Squeezed was founded in 1991 and has concentrated on marketing mainly orange juice. It is based in Hawke's Bay.

Three years ago, an Australian equity company, Crescent Capital Partners, bought 60% of the business.

The commission says it is satisfied the sale won't substantially lessen competition in the national market for fruit beverages.
