NZ market higher at close

The New Zealand share market was up 17 points, or 0.55%, to 3091 at the close of trade on Thursday on turnover of $90 million.

Top stocks were mixed. Telecom was up 7 cents to close at $7.80 a share, while Fletcher Building gained 11c to $7.69. Contact lost 2c to $6.18 and AMP slumped 25c to $7.80.

In Australia, All Ordinaries index closed four points lower at 4,433. The ASX 200 was down nine points at 4,430 the ABC website reports.

Japanese share prices ended down 0.64% on Thursday, hurt by losses on Wall Street and a stronger yen, which is bad for exporters.

The benchmark Nikkei-225 index dropped 65.82 points to 10,214.64. The broader Topix index of all first section shares slipped 7.04 points, or 0.74%, to 942.77, AFP reports.
