Cynotech says it won't now pay a half-year dividend.
The company, run by Alan Hawkins, says its reasons are more to do with the state of the industry than its own performance.
Cynotech says the finance company sector is still in some difficulty, citing the receivership of OPI Pacific Finance, and tighter rules under the government's extension of the retail guarantee scheme.
It says it will hold onto more money to protect its balance sheet.
The company says a small amount of new lending has gone to its finance companies, which has resulted in small monthly increases in the money it is collecting.
