A New Zealand-based private equity fund, along with overseas investors, is looking to invest in companies providing solutions to energy constraints.

Milestone Capital is setting up the Rutherford Innovation Fund to provide expansion funding to such clean-tech companies.

It plans to invest over the next two years, taking minority stakes and positions on boards.

A principal of Milestone Capital, Kenji Steven, says the fund would look to expand the companies over three to five years before either selling them or listing on the stockmarket.
