Dip for NZX on Friday

The New Zealand stock market opens at 3149 on Monday after dipping on Friday. The NZX 50 index was down 35 points or 1%.

The Australian 200 Index also closed down 99 points on Friday, at 4602.

The US economy lost 263,000 jobs in September while there was also a decline in factory orders.

The Dow Jones Index was down 21 at 9488. The Nasdaq Composite was down 9 points at 2048.

In London, the FTSE down lost 1.2%, the CAC-40 index in Paris was down 1.9% and the DAX in Frankfurt fell 1.6%.

At 8.20am on Monday, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 71.61 US cents, 82.64 Australian cents, 44.89 pence, 64.24 yen and 0.4909 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 64.36.

Brent crude Oil was trading at $US66.85 US per barrel. Gold was trading at $US1000.95 per ounce.
