NZ stock market up

The New Zealand stock market is up on Tuesday. When the markets closed the NZX50 was up 13 points, or 0.4%, to 3152, on a turnover of $64 million at 1.15pm.

Fletcher Building was up 7 cents at $8.40, Telecom down 3 cents at $2.58, Contact Energy up 10 cents at $5.90.

Sky Entertainment Group was down 3 cents to $3.24, Air New Zealand was up 5 cents to $1.26.

NZX was unchanged at $8.00 after buying Clear Grain Exchange for $A6.4m.

New Zealand Oil and Gas was up 4 cents to $1.70.

PGG Wrightson was up 3 cents at $0.62.

Pumpkin Patch was up 4 cents at $1.95, The Warehouse was up 8 cents to $4.33.

Across the Tasman the Australian 200 index is up 22 points, or 0.5%, to 4595.

The New Zealand dollar pushed higher after Australia's central bank increased interest rates by 25 basis points to 3.25%.

At 5.20pm, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 73.29 US cents, 82.98 Australian cents, 45.91 pence, 65.33 Yen, and 0.4984 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 66.40.
