The New Zealand sharemarket rose 28 points, or 0.9%, to close at 3168 on Thursday on turnover of $109 million.
Fletcher Building was up 8 cents per share to $8.30, Telecom rose 7c to $2.59, while Contact Energy gained 9c to $5.90.
Sky Entertainment Group was up 1c to $3.23 and Air New Zealand rose 3c to $1.32.
New Zealand Oil and Gas was unchanged at $1.73, but Pike River Coal was up 4c at $1.17.
Westpac surged $1.10 to $31.80, after a trading halt was lifted, following a High Court judgment that it owed the Inland Revenue Department $950 million in unpaid tax.
