Nokia reports $US1.35bn loss

Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has reported a sixth successive quarterly loss.

The company lost $US1.35 billion in its networks unit in the three months to September, as it wrote down the value of its Nokia Siemens Networks division.

Sales fell by a fifth to $US14.6 million as people deferred upgrading their phone during the recession.

Analysts say Nokia has also suffered because mobile phone makers like Apple have developed more popular smartphones.
