Inflation up in Australia

5:55 am on 29 October 2009

Inflation in Australia has risen 1% in the three months to September.

On an annual basis, consumer prices rose 1.3%, the slowest pace in a decade.

Economists say it's likely the Reserve Bank of Australia will raise interest rates again next week as core inflation is stubbornly above its target band of 2% - 3%.

The official interest rate is 3.25%.
