Managing director Donald Stewart says the downturn set the company's growth plans back by a year.
He told the annual meeting of the specialist rubber manufacturer in Auckland that Skellerup continued to invest in developing products during the downturn, which mean it's now well placed to reap the rewards, as its markets recover.
Mr Stewart said trading in the first quarter showed there were some signs of recovery in Europe, but its US and automotive markets have remained flat.
