The country's main gateway, Auckland International Airport, says an end to the slump in passenger numbers could be in sight.

At its annual meeting, the company told shareholders it has seen a small up tick in both domestic and international passengers in the September quarter.

Chairman Anthony Frankham says evidence from other regions suggest a return to growth is on the way.

The company repeated it expects to make between $93 million and $100 million this financial year.
