Elite business women to hold open conference

An elite group of New Zealand business women are holding their first public event in Auckland on Tuesday.

Membership to New Zealand Global Women is normally by invitation only, but the group is holding an open conference in a bid to help aspiring business leaders reach the top of their game.

One issue for discussion is how to ensure more top-level women make it to senior management and the board room table.

Mai Chen, a founding partner of law firm Chen Palmer, and chairperson of the New Zealand Global Women advisory board, says women still face discrimination but events like this mean they can help each other succeed.

Ms Chen says the key aim of the event is to allow top women who have achieved to be able to share some of the secrets of their success.

Keynote speakers at the forum include former prime minister Dame Jenny Shipley, Erica Crawford from Kim Crawford Wines and Ezibuy chief executive Mary Devine.
