Experience essential, says financial adviser body

The Institute of Financial Advisers wants all practitioners seeking accreditation as an authorised financial adviser to have supervised practical experience.

The institute has made its submission to the code committee, which is responsible for setting new regulations for the financial advisory industry.

The committee is recommending that all advisers complete a minimum qualification, but the IFA says advisers also need to demonstrate they have competent experience before practising.
