AMP Financial Services has signed up with an Australia's biggest investment research firm as part of a raft of measures designed to strengthen the quality of advice given to clients in New Zealand.
Van Eyk will provide investment research and support to AMP's 350 financial advisers in New Zealand.
It uses a rating system which ranks the performance of funds or investment products and the management team behind them.
AMP Financial Services managing director Jack Regan says the move is designed to give financial advisers greater insight into products, and confidence in recommending them to clients.
He says its time to improve standards following the "unhappy investment experience" many people have had in New Zealand and now that regulation is coming in.
