New Zealand market ends down 10 points

The benchmark NZX50 index closed down 10 points, or 0.33%, to 3247 on turnover of $36 million on Monday.

Fletcher Building was down 2 cents to $8.11, Telecom was up 1c to $2.52 and Contact Energy was down 8c to $6.10. Auckland Airport was down 1c to $1.91, Air New Zealand was down 2c to $1.16, Sky Television was down 2c to $5.15 and The Warehouse was down 4c to $3.98.

Across the Tasman, the ASX was up 8 points, or 0.18%, to 4098 after a closely watched inflation index rose to a nine-month high of 2.6%.

In the currency markets, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 73.65 US cents, 79.95 Australian cents, 45.13 pence, 67.89 yen and 0.5122 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was 66.60
