NZ sharemarket down slightly

The New Zealand sharemarket's benchmark NZX 50 index slipped 11 points (0.45%), to 3067 on turnover of $28 million during Monday morning trading.

At 12.18pm, Fletcher Building was up 2 cents to $7.56, Telecom was unchanged at $2.30 and Contact Energy had fallen 1 cent to $5.67.

Auckland International Airport was down 2 cents to $1.84.

Sky City Entertainment fell 2 cents to $3.11, Sky Television Network was down 2 cents to $4.71 and Air New Zealand was unchanged at $1.32.

Freightways fell down 14 cent to $3.07 after announcing its first half profit fell 14% as sales fell.

Pyne Gould Corporation was unchanged at 44 cents.

The Warehouse fell 3 cents to $3.77, while Hallenstein Glasson was up 1 cent to $3.63

Telstra was down 5 cents to $4.00 after announcing flat revenues and profit in the six months to the end of December.

Steel and Tube was down 1 cent to $2.59. NZX fell 5 cents to $2.13.

In the currency markets, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 69.56 US cents, 78.48 Australian, 44.44 British pence, 62.63 yen and 0.5110 euro. TWI is at 64.53.
